7/8 August 2017 is the 1900th anniversary of the death of the Roman emperor Traianus. The
Roman Empire reached its maximum extent during his reign. A colloquium on Traianus will
be held at AKMED on 6-8 August. Scholars who are authorities on the emperor will present
papers on his life, activities, and legacy in the Mediterranean region as well as in the Near
East. The colloquium will include a visit to Şekerhan in ancient Selinus near Gazipaşa where
Traianus died on 7/8 August 117
