The bath bears the characteristics of 13th-century Seljuk architecture, under which are the remains of a Roman Imperial bath. According to the waqfiyya (Foundation Charter), it served under the Makbul Ağa Mosque Foundation together with the nearby masjid now known as Makbule Mosque. The foundation’s income declaration documents indicate that the building was restored in 1450. The original changing room no longer exists and has been replaced by a newer structure. The cold room, hot room, and hypocaust have survived intact to the present day. The bath was called the Makbul Ağa Bath during the Ottoman Period and now serves as the Sefa Bath.
