Suna Kıraç Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship

The Koç University AKMED will sponsor a full-time post-doctoral researcher for 6 months beginning from December 1, 2021. Candidates are required to submit a project on Antalya Gazetesi published in Ottoman script between 1922-1928 in Antalya. Candidates are expected to translate the headings and determine their contents for the issues at AKMED collection and to carry out a research on missing issues in the libraries and archives. Consequently, it is expected that Antalya Gazetesi will reveal its importance and contribution in terms of both Antalya city and the Turkish press history. Candidates must have worked on Ottoman documents and newspapers in the archives in their previous studies and theses and they must document it. Furthermore, candidates are expected to contribute to AKMED academic activities (exhibition, conference, workshop, symposium) and publications. Candidates should have obtained a Ph.D. degree in the field of history during the last five years and not more than 45 years old. It is the responsibility of the candidates working in any institution to obtain permission from their institutions. Candidates who satisfy the above conditions must apply directly to AKMED by November 9, 2021.

The application documents are as follows:

  • A letter of application, including contact information and the title of project proposed
  • Curriculum vitae, including lists of publications and projects in which the candidate has taken part
  • A proposal (maximum 1,000 words) stating the aim, method and work plan as well as a bibliography related to the project
  • Two letters of reference
