AKMED awards grants to PhD students who have successfully passed their qualifying exams, in the departments of history, archaeology, art history, ancient languages and cultures, architectural history, and restoration-conservation at universities in Turkey. These are based on the quality and scientific contributions of their projects.

The amount of grant is determined each year by the Executive Board and it is paid at once. The grant for Doctoral research  is limited to 2000 Euros. The call for application is announced in March. The deadline for application is 15 May, and the decisions are announced in June.

The application folders, to be prepared in triplicate, need to include the following:

  1. Title and curriculum vitae of the applier; list of publications, if any; clear contact address; e-mail address and phone number;
  2. Scope of the research project, its methods, aim, summary of previous publications on the subject, work calendar and program;
  3. Quality of the need, list of proposed expenses and budget.
  4. A minimum two letters of recommendation (in sealed and signed envelope) must be directly sent to AKMED by post or e-mail by their authors.
