Chronologically showcasing the cultural heritage of Anatolia to the world in the historic buildings of the Ottoman Period, The Museum of Anatolian Civilizations celebrated its centenary in 2021.

One of the few museums in the world with such an extensive collection, the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations was established in Ankara on Atatürk’s initiative despite the turmoil of the ongoing War of Independence and the Battle of Sakarya. The Museum of Anatolian Civilizations is a well-established institution in Turkish Museology, which has pioneered many innovations with educational activities, besides the basic functions of a museum: conservation, documentation, transfer and communication. Thanks to its cooperative, active and dynamic structure, the museum has made significant contributions to the dissemination of universal values, raising public awareness on art and history through exhibitions, and to the cultural development and the promotion of Türkiye.

Establishing strong ties between the past and the present with a contemporary approach, the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations is proud of bringing together and displaying the rich cultural heritage and grandeur of this geography for its visitors for a century.
