This book consists of a new translation of, and historical, architectural, urbanistic, and epigraphic commentary on, a victory screed (fetihname/fathnama) written in the spring of 1216 after the Seljuk reconquest of the city of Antalya on the south coast of Anatolia, carved on column shafts, and inserted into the walls and towers of Antalya citadel.

This inscription had previously been available only in Ahmed Tevhid’s incomplete 1926 transcription. This new study corrects many readings, and adds several previously unread lines. It also places the inscription in the context of medieval Anatolian history, the growth of the city of Antalya, and Seljuk epigraphy.
